An 8-day guided ski week in the French Alps, based all week in Bourg-Saint-Maurice in the Tarentaise valley. From one hotel we ski some of the biggest ski areas in the world: Les Arcs and Paradiski, Tignes–Val d'Isère and Les 3 Vallées, plus Sainte-Foy-Tarentaise and a day across the border in La Thuile, Italy. Resort days, sidecountry and optional backcountry with short skin approaches, chosen each morning around snow, weather and safety. Guided by Niki Salençon, who has skied and guided in the Tarentaise for more than 20 years.
Late March brings longer days, spring snow on the sunny slopes and colder snow on the high, north-facing terrain of Tignes–Val d'Isère and Les 3 Vallées. Conditions vary from year to year.
The itinerary is a guide, not a fixed program. Each day we choose the ski area based on snow, weather, avalanche risk, lift openings and the group's level, so we ski the best of what the Alps offer that week.
Arrive in Bourg-Saint-Maurice, our base for the whole week in the Tarentaise valley, and check in. In the evening we meet as a group for a trip briefing, a gear check and a look at snow and mountain conditions. Airport transfers are not included; the town has its own train station.
First ski day at Les Arcs, straight up from town on the funicular, with the option to explore La Plagne across the Paradiski area. Groomers, freeride and short backcountry options depending on conditions.
A day in the huge Tignes–Val d'Isère ski area, the former Espace Killy, known for its high-alpine terrain and off-piste itineraries. If conditions are better elsewhere, we go back to Paradiski.
A day built around backcountry at one of our favorite spots. Skin approaches of about 1–2 hours can open up memorable descents, always depending on snow and safety. Touring is optional; there is plenty of lift-served terrain for those who prefer it.
We ski the Espace San Bernardo and cross the border into La Thuile, Italy: off-piste, big alpine views and time for an Italian pizza before heading back to France.
A day in Les 3 Vallées, the largest connected ski area in the world with 600 km of runs across Courchevel, Méribel and Val Thorens. We pick the sectors and freeride options that suit the conditions and the time we have.
Back to Les Arcs for a last day on the mountain, looking for the best lines of the week. In the evening we close the trip with a group dinner in town (not included).
